We chat how applying computer science to genomics helps researchers understand mutations in cancer, and interview Dr Kerstin Haase, post-doctoral researcher at the Francis Crick Institute in London working on cancer genomics.

Kerstin obtained an undergraduate degree in bioinformatics at the University of Munich, and developed a bioinformatic tool predicting viral epitopes during her PhD. Kerstin joined the Crick in 2015 to study the evolution of tumours by applying computational biology approaches to whole genome sequencing data, part of the international Pan-cancer Analysis of Whole Genomes (PCAWG) consortium.
